We’ve been on a trip to Wales this week to visit Frey’s Mamgu and Grandad. Frey has absolutely loved it! He’s been in such a happy mood all week. Sleep has gone a bit out of the window, we have been co-sleeping this week and I’ve had my little munchkin alarm go off at all hours, with the classic ‘swinging on my hair’ wake up call. It’s pretty easy to forgive when you see this face though…
I picked up the River Cottage baby and toddler cookbook this week – I mentioned it in my weaning post here but at that point I hadn’t got around to actually reading it! It’s full of helpful information for starting weaning, and it talks about which fruits and vegetables are in season when, amongst many other things. I’m so glad I picked it up – and the weaning journey is going a little more smoothly. Probably because it is now mainly fruit based – well, at least he’s eating something!
We came across the ‘Little Village Fair’ on a day out in Cardiff this week so we stopped for a look. It will be so exciting when Frey is old enough to go on the little rides, but for now he loved watching all the bright colours. We had to take a photograph of this horse – she has the same name as Frey’s great grandmother, Gladys. Isnt’ she gorgeous?!
Our favourite sun hat. The sun has shone just a little bit this week – but really this is just another excuse to share a cute picture of the munchkin.
I dug out Mumford and Son’s ‘Babel’ album for the drive up to Cardiff. It’s fabulous for driving with at high volume! And munchkin will sleep through anything when we’re in the car.
This is my current favourite thing, I’ve made it twice this week. Once at home for our ‘Sunday Roast’, and then again for my Mum when we got to Cardiff. It’s cauliflower roasted with garlic, olive oil, sesame oil, tamari and pine nuts. I serve it with roasted potatoes and gravy – and it’s delicious!
Another first this week, I went out for a meal with my oldest friend, Kate, whilst my Mum and Dad looked after Frey. The first time I’ve been out without him since he was born! We were only out for about an hour so it was a slightly rushed meal, but Frey was absolutely fine. I don’t expect he even noticed I was missing!
Also.. we had our first go on a slide. I used to LOVE slides when I was little. My Mum tells me that they used to take detours on car journeys so they wouldn’t go past play parks as I would always nag to stop and have a go on the slide! This was only a mini one as you can see, but it was just right for me and a little munchkin.
