A little shop of delights

My Mum came to visit last week, and we went for a wander around Frome, which is our nearest town, and a brilliant place to spend an afternoon.

Catherine Hill is a beautiful cobbled street lined with the loveliest shops. As I’ve mentioned before, I can’t resist anything that smells good, and my favourite shop on the street has to be ‘Herbs on the Hill’.

Herbs on the Hill

This is the apothecary, where you can buy all sorts of herbs to make your own bath potions, along with herbal teas, and bowls of sweetly smelling incense along with hand made burners. I highly recommend the ‘Love’ incense.

There are massage oils, bath salts, shower gels, cleaners, creams.. anything you could wish for, all handmade and beautifully presented.

I’ve mentioned before, in a monthly favourites post, that I love the baby bath milk and massage oil. It’s so gentle, with lavender and rose geranium essential oils. I use a couple of teaspoons of the bath milk in Frey’s bath every evening, and then he has a mini massage with the oil. I also burn a little lavender and rose geranium in the bedroom to help create a calming atmosphere for him. Whenever we travel away from home for the night, I take the oils with us, in the hope that the fragrance will remind him of home and help him to sleep.

Herbs on the Hill

I’ll let you into a little secret.. about seven years ago, I used to make my own soaps, lotions, potions, bath delicacies etc, and I had my own little shop not far from here. I loved it, it was my little dream come true. But it wasn’t anywhere near as wonderful as Herbs on the Hill. A shop like this is like stepping into heaven for me, as silly as it sounds, and my Mum and Frey patiently waited while I sniffed and snapped away!

What’s your favourite shop?

I love places like this, but they are hard to find around here. I’m surprised you don’t revive your business Becky. Could you do it from home?

I’d love to do that Ali, I’ve thought about it a lot. We’ll see, watch this space! :-) x
