Feathering the nest.. for Christmas

May your days be merry and bright

It’s Christmas time at The Sparkle Nest.. I’ve turned our home into a winter wonderland! I wasn’t going to get a real tree this year, as I thought it would be impractical with a crawling little person around the place, but I happened to be driving past the lay by where we bought our tree last year on the 29th of November, and saw the sign that it was their first day of Christmas tree sales. So I stopped… and a few hours later, still in November, I had a real tree up in our living room. I think it’s the most beautiful tree I’ve ever had, there are benefits to going on the first day. My photographs just don’t do our cosy room justice!

I’ve also gone a bit mad on the fairy lights – I have them covering every surface. As you can see, I’ve gone for a silver and pink theme on the tree. I’ve wanted a silver and pink theme for a long time..I even have a pinterest board called ‘Pink Christmas‘. Mine is a subtle pink Christmas though, I found a few pink baubles in Pound Land to add to my collection of silver ornaments!

Frey and I had a great time decorating. I put some Christmas music on, and I decorated the tree whilst he helped me by pulling all of the ornaments out of the bag, and helpfully leaving them strewn all over the living room floor!

Woodland Christmas

In the kitchen, I’ve decorated a sparkly white tree with my collection of mushrooms and woodland creatures.

Little bear and me

I wasn’t sure Frey really paid much attention to the addition of ornaments and sparkles around our home, but when they were all complete, and all the lights were on, I carried him around and showed it all to him, pointing out all the different decorations. And the wide eyed wonder on his face was just beautiful. My little Christmas bear.

It does look very festive! And I love that tree of mushrooms, we weren’t going to have a tree either this year, but yet tonight I arrived home with one in a pot which we’ll plant in the garden in January. Not quite sure how that happened but glad it did :) #CityCountryLife

I love the garland going up the stairs and the lights strung across the fireplace – are those battery operated? I’ve never worked out how people get them looking so neat!

Think your house looks gorgeous and real trees all the way! #CityCountryLife
