On the day that you were born, the angels got together, and decided to create a dream come true.
So they sprinkled moondust in your hair of gold and starlight in your eyes of blue
Part of me can’t believe my boy is 1 year old already, and part of me can’t believe it’s only been a year since he’s been in my life, what did I do before he was here?
Frey turned one on Monday 22nd February, at 8.20pm, whilst he was fast asleep and I was gazing at the beautiful full snow moon. I’m really pleased that he’s had a lovely week of celebrations, including far too many party rings and far too much chocolate cake. Although more of those things went into me than into Frey!
At 12 months old, Frey’s personality is really starting to show. He’s a cheeky little monkey with the most adorable grin, and if he’s not happy about something, he will let me know about it!
Over the past month, he’s started at nursery, and he absolutely loves it. It was his first full day on Tuesday and I rang the nursery at about 2pm to see how he was getting on, to be told that he had had a lovely morning, had eaten all his lunch and was currently napping, and had been for over an hour! I need to ask the staff how do they do that?! Today Frey and I had a day at home and his lunch ended up on the floor and the afternoon nap was a battle that sleep didn’t win until nearly 4pm, which is really a little bit too late for a nap.
I’m so pleased that he’s enjoying nursery. I think the interaction with other children will be so good for him, he’s already started to stack blocks rather than to just knock them down, and is getting the hang of shape sorters too, I love to watch the concentration on his face as he tries to work these things out.
Moving things around is also fun, I do find it funny when toys end up in my drinks! Look at that face of innocence…
Another fun new trick of Frey’s is undressing himself. I took this one the other morning before nursery. I’d dressed Frey and put him back in the cot while I got myself ready. Those are his trousers on the floor which he somehow managed to take off, and found ever so funny!
It seems that Frey has only recently become big enough to sit in the trolley when we go shopping – and now he’s big enough to climb out of the little trolley chair! I tried to carry him around the supermarket when he did this the other day, but when we got to the checkout I had to admit defeat, so I stood him in the trolley, where he proceeded to throw things out of it!
Despite really enjoying these party rings, my little monkey is still a bit of a fussy eater, although I do think he’s improving from last month. Another benefit of nursery is that he gets to try some different foods. One day he had curry for lunch, something that I’ve never considered cooking for him, and I was told he demolished it! I’d love to be a fly on the wall on one of his nursery days!
As for sleeping, he’s still a little sleep thief at 1 year old! Most nights Frey will wake between 3-5 times and he usually gets through about 10oz of milk during the night. Two nights recently he has got through around 20oz of milk during the night. I’m not sure this is ideal at his age, but I’m trying not to worry about it, I’ve had my fair share of worry about these things already and if there’s one thing I’ve learnt from this past year, it’s that there was no need to worry so much!
Happy First Birthday Little Bear! I love you so much, thank you for the best year of my life, lets enjoy the next one!
