Yesterday was ‘Blue Monday’, reported to be the most depressing day of the year. The weather is cold and grey, the Christmas decorations are long packed away. On the nursery run this morning, I saw a poor discarded Christmas tree in a lay-by. I was tempted to go over and stand it up and decorate it with pretty rainbow coloured pompoms. I didn’t of course, I was on the nursery run, but the thought was there.
So, talking of rainbows, in a roundabout way, what better way to beat the January blues than a spot of shopping for pretty things? How about getting organised and stocking up on your birthday shopping for the year? I’ve discovered a website called ‘Uncommon Goods‘. They’re based in the United States, but they now ship most of their products to the UK for a reasonable cost, and with no hidden customs charges. Uncommon Goods pride themselves on being a sustainable company, and offer some really unique and creative gifts that have been created by artists and small manufacturers. I love that since they were founded they have featured products made from recycled materials and don’t sell anything containing leather, feathers or fur.
