Mama and Belle Juliette Teething Necklace

Teething necklaces are absolutely amazing. If you’re a Mama of very small children, you’ll know that necklaces are something that are grabbed and chewed regularly, so delicate silver chains and strings of pearls are not very practical. But as I am always saying, it is so important when you’re a new mother to look after yourself – and if wearing pretty accessories are your thing, there’s no reason why you can’t look stylish and cuddle your baby at the same time.

Mama and Belle Teething Necklace

I was kindly sent this beautiful ‘Juliette’ teething necklace by Mama and Belle, who are the original stylish teething jewellery company in the UK.

Mama and Belle was created by Suzy in 2014 when her first daughter, Belle, was a few months old. She gives the brilliant story of how she created her business here and includes an interview with Amy Creel, who originally invented teething jewellery in Australia in 2006.  When Suzy had the problem of her young baby grabbing at her jewellery, she decided to see if there were any baby friendly alternatives available, but found slim pickings here in the UK. From the start, Suzy wanted her business to do more than just give mums stylish teething jewellery that they would love with or without baby, and allow her to be a stay at home mum. She wanted a business that also did some good in the world, and gives at least 10% of her profits to charity. Mama and Belle support a charity called Stella’s Voice in Moldova, who fight to save those affected by human trafficking.

Mama and Belle Juliette Necklace

The Juliette necklace that I was sent to review is a lovely piece of statement jewellery, that really sets off an everyday outfit, or would be brilliant to dress up for a special occasion. I’ve had compliments on the necklace from people who are amazed when I tell them that it’s a teething necklace!

It’s also brilliant for baby wearing, as something for your baby to chew on and play with whilst you carry them in their sling. I often carry Alfie facing forward, and so when I do that I often take the necklace off and attach it to the strap of the sling so he can still play with it.

The necklace is made from food grade silicone, and has a breakaway clasp, so if your little one tugs on it it come apart easily without breaking. It’s easy to wash, and can even be put on the top shelf of a dishwasher. I’ve tested this, as it came back from one of our baby wearing walks a little muddy, and as you can see from the pictures it’s as good as new!

As well as baby Alfie, my eldest who is now nearly 2 and a half also loves the necklace, he pulls on it, chews on it, and takes it off my neck to wear himself!  If your older children do take a shine to your Mama and Belle necklace, you can also get them one of their own.

This is the ‘Rosie‘ necklace, which is suitable for children from 3 years old.

Also available are dummy or teether clips, teething bangles, and teething bracelets for Dads. Wouldn’t these make fantastic gifts not only for a new mum, but a new Dad, or a new big sister or brother?

You can see the whole range available from Mama and Belle and buy online at https://mamaandbelle.com They will also be available to buy from John Lewis from Autumn 2017.

I didn’t know you could get teething necklaces. When I have a child of my own I would consider getting one.

My Mother is a great fan of wearing big chunky bead necklaces, and when my little boy was a baby and she held him, he would always try to get the beads! Having an actual necklace that is safe for your baby is fantastic. Lovely range.
