This September is so beautiful so far, we’ve had some lovely walks and my eldest loves pointing out the leaves falling from the trees, he finds it so exciting, ‘Another leaf! And another!’ He’s also enjoying throwing my squashes around the house as though they’re balls to play with just as much as he did last year.. poor squashes. I hope they survive long enough to be made into soup!
It’s been fun to get out my little box of Autumn decorations too. I’ve got the Autumn wreath that I made a couple of years ago (you can find the tutorial here) and a couple of little ceramic toadstools that sit on the front doorstep. I’ve also been having a lot of fun browsing Etsy for handmade Autumnal goodies, so I wanted to share some of my finds with you.
Sarah Benning is one of my favourite Etsy shops, I’ve shared some of her makes before. I love this little pillow with a pumpkin design. It’s fragranced with cloves and the print is also available on a cotton shopping bag. Sarah also sells the most amazing dried mini pumpkins, which I bought from her last year. You can see them in this picture and in my picture at the top of the post. They still smell just as good a year later! The fabric pumpkin in my Autumn picture is also made by Sarah.
This was something I couldn’t resist purchasing myself. I love scented candles and melts at any time of year, but I absolutely adore the sweet, cinnamon, pumpkin type fragrances that are around at Autumn. Emma at Thatched Oven Waxes is a brilliant seller, fantastic service and fast postage, and the wax melts are incredible, so lovely and strong. This is a selection box with a random selection of melts, but she also sells them individually if you are looking for a specific fragrance. I was happy with everything I received in the selection box though, and I’m looking forward to seeing the fragrances that Emma brings out for Christmas!
I came across this beautiful stained glass leaf and thought it would look wonderful hanging in the windows for Autumn, catching the sunlight. Moonzie Crafts also has a lovely selection of Christmas sun catchers for the window or your Christmas tree.
This just shouts Autumn to me. A few years ago we went on holiday in late September to see the Autumn colours down in Sussex, and stayed next to the most amazing wood which had proper, fairytale red and white spotted toadstools.
Peony and Thistle is full of beautiful paper crafts.. go and look!
It didn’t take long for me to get back to scented goodies! This foaming body scrub is scented with ‘A mysterious scent of Black Amber, soft Sandalwood & Cedar, Patchouli Flower, Incense and sweet Vetiver.’ Lovely for a Halloween pamper night? I haven’t tried this scrub myself, but I have purchased some whipped soap from Spirit of the Isle which was so lovely to use and beautifully scented, so I can really recommend the shop.
Aren’t these hand knitted pumpkins just so cute?! And thinking about it.. they would be so much safer for a toddler to throw around the house than real squashes…!
I hope my Etsy finds have helped give you some Autumnal inspiration.. I’d love to hear what your favourite is from the list.
